This full-length documentary follows the 2004 class of Women Walk the Marathon on its athletic training journey from first step to finish line. Over the ten-month period, a loving, supportive group dynamic evolves, enabling members to face and conquer blisters, arthritic knees, sweltering heat, torrential rain, and the greatest enemy of all, nagging self-doubt.
Group members face many obstacles and challenges; many walk to heal from personal loss. These are stories of great determination, courage and camaraderie. Members grow to understand that they can do anything with the right training and a newfound belief in themselves.
Rather than use a typical chronological telling of the story, the film starts with the 7:30 am marathon start, then goes back to the introductory meeting in January and continues to weave back and forth in time, viewing the marathon event as iconic for the entire training process.
Twenty-five group members were interviewed and their personal insights and stories are highlighted throughout the film.
Music was provided by talented film and television composer Frank Palmieri, and the theme song “Walk to Me” was a collaborative work by performance artist Fern Capella and her brother, Dustin Cronk.
"When you walk the talk, you can walk yourself to the person you are meant to be."
